The Power of Narrative and the Decline of Woke
The left has, in recent times, enjoyed supremacy in narrative. It was very easy for them to win in what has now been termed the "culture wars." However, there came a moment when the left overstepped, and the right seized that opportunity perfectly...
Arguing against racism and homophobia is not particularly difficult, regardless of what our readers might believe. It’s hard to claim that the majority of people support ideas of oppressing black people, women or the LGBTQ+ community. Yet, the left's dominance in social values quickly shifted to the other side the moment they went too far.
While it’s easy to view "anti-racists" as being on the right side of history, it’s equally easy to laugh at leftists who are baffled by the massive backlash against their trans and diversity politics. The left was blindly convinced they were on a righteous path with their identity politics. However, with elections since 2016 being won by candidates who focused on "owning the libs," it’s clear that the left lost the plot somewhere along the way.
The obsession with exploring gender studies and microaggressions has become the stick that the left placed in its own wheel. The current cultural sentiment online now resonates more with the right’s political views. Meanwhile, an awkward relationship between moderates and radicals on the left is brewing tension. Radicals demand all-or-nothing approaches, while moderates see their ideology being used as ammunition by the right in elections they desperately need to win.
Will the left reach a point where they realize their clamor for equality has been successful and be satisfied? Or will their relentless push for progressive ideas lead to further alienation and their eventual downfall?
