ICE is using a terrifying Palantir app to determine where to raid.
Immigration police ICE uses an app developed by the data company Palantir to determine where to conduct raids.
The app is called “Elite” and is intended to identify and locate people who may be subject to deportation. Each person is marked as a dot on a map and has an associated profile with, among other things, name, date of birth, photo and ID number. There is also a “confidence score” that indicates how likely it is that the person is at the specified address.
The data is obtained from several authorities, including the US health authority and the immigration authority USCIS, as well as commercial databases.
ICE are the subject of a fierce debate in the United States. The other week, an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, a mother of three, which has increased tensions further.
